My pathway to becoming a teacher was not traditional. I attempted a career in the medical records field of study, but I was not happy in that area. It took a few attempts in different areas before I found my true calling in education. After working as a teacher’s aide, I was introduced to a program that would allow me to attend college to get a teaching degree while I continued work as a teacher’s aide. After some heavy thought, I decided to take advantage of that program. I enrolled at Stephen F. Austin to achieve a bachelor’s degree in education. I was so happy in education, I took concurrent classes at Stephen F. Austin to achieve a master’s degree in education a short time later.
